Attention all disc golfers! We are excited bring you another running of a disc golf tournament in 7th Brigade Park in Chermside on Saturday 18th May 2024.
The Battle at Brigade & WGE 2024 is hosted by the Brisbane Disc Golf Club and will form a stop on the 2024 Queensland Disc Golf Tour as well as play a part in promoting Women's sport by joining forces with the 2024 Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) Women's Global Event.
Did you know that 7th Brigade Park was originally used as a training ground for Australian soldiers during World War I and II? Well, we like to think of our sport as a battleground of sorts, where players strategise and battle it out for the win. And what better place to host this tournament than a park with such a rich military history, 7th Brigade Park is the perfect setting for our own little "battlefield."
The 2024 tournament will consist of two rounds of 19 holes on the Battlefield Layout. There will be a mixture of long wide fairways requireing power and angle control as well as short techincal holes requiring touch and finesse.
Utilising the natural layout of the park, many fairway edges will play as rough, causing you to play from often difficult lies as well as some well placed OB to test the accuracy and resolve of all participants. Some of the holes will be familiar to thoise that participated in 2023, although we are attempting to incorporate some of the soon to be installed permenant holes which will form a part of the 9 hole course as well as a mixture of new holes plus a few from 2023.

The PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) has only a few certified locations for disc manufacturers, and, as luck would have it, one of the 14 countries is New Zealand. RPM Discs is New Zealand’s very own disc golf manufacturer. Experts in the field of disc golf, members of the RPM company have garnered a wealth of knowledge from their extensive travels and professional competition experience, spearheaded by one of NZ’s best Simon Feasey.
Disc golf has been played in New Zealand for over 40 years, and, with the growing amount of interest in the sport, RPM Discs offers discs that are unlike any other in the world. Their variety of disc molds are unique to RPM Discs, and their disc golf targets are used around the world.
RPM Discs’ Piwakawaka discs, named for the fan-tailed natives of New Zealand, and Tui Approach, a unique choice for a putter, this disc has introduced thousands of new players to disc golf over the years, through the epicentre in the South of NZ Queenstown. As such, their influence in New Zealand has been insurmountable in introducing many tourists to the sport.
“My husband and I were frustrated with being unable to get our hands on and physically feel the plastic, weight and rims of discs before buying them, so we decided to do something about it.”
In 2021, Keri Palazzi along with her husband Chris, took on the problem head first, by opening up the first disc golf store in North Queensland, Kingfihger Disc Golf.
